Freezing A hard drive

Consider this: Metal and wet will eventually equal to rust, which is not wanted. It will also short. Freezing the HDD won't really do it. The fact of a clicking HDD is that air between handle and disk being gone. The hand will be magnetised and damage will occur.

Freezing HD's is the #1 way of data recovery.

+ Hard drives contain virtually no steel, mainly aluminium / stainless steel.

And stainless steel does NOT rust.

Freezing your hard drives does not help recover data. All you're going to do is build up condensation which will just destroy the inside, even without opening it up.

Which is why you put it in a ziplock bag.
