The officers were sitting in the coffee shop before the start of their shifts when a gunman shot them at about 8 a.m. PT, Troyer said. The shop is a place where area law enforcement officers regularly gather to share information, he said.

The attacker walked to the counter as if to order coffee before he pulled a gun out of his coat and fired, Troyer said. Two of the officers were "executed" as they sat at a table, another was shot when he stood up, and the fourth was shot after struggling with the gunman all the way out the door, Troyer said.

That is just horrible. He needs to be captured quickly. Sadly though he'll probably get off on an insanity plea.

If he is caught, and apprehended rather then shot on sight.

Personally, with my... impeccable sense of justice, I say he can no longer be a functional member of society, so prison would be a waste of time (thats what they do... try to make you functional), and he is worth but all of a .10 bullet in the head and second for good measure.

Yeah, they got the bastard. http://news.aol.com/article/4-police-officers-killed-in-ambush-at/678280?icid=main|main|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2F4-police-officers-killed-in-ambush-at%2F678280

But we all know no one is going to shoot him. They are going to waste millions of taxpayer dollars to try him in court and seek the death penalty. I think everyone in the USA would agree this isn't a time for politics. It's a time for good ol' vigilante justice. Wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit.

Ohh, and in the article it states he was shot. Wonder if it was lethal enough... Hmmm...

In that link is not one word about they have him in custody. They think he may be wounded and some one thinks he may be dead.
He's still out there.

The above debate about ethics could go on and on, but personally I think it's one of these things that can't be put into logic - there's just too many exceptions and suchlike. The law tries to do it, but ultimately fails - if it truly could sum up morality under a set of logical rules there'd be no need for lawyers, trials or anything remotely similar...

The above is one of my short, simple answers to something philosophy tries to get you to write a million essays over... one of many things. I haven't found anyone that's proved me otherwise on it yet anyway! :)
