atlas shrugged is a good book, and fountain head
also try The Lord of the Flies (one of my favorite) The time machine (H.G. wells)
and lastly the Chrysalids

If your into Fantasy (magic and dragons and such) then Terry Brooks or Christopher Paolini are really good.
