I want to install ubuntu beside my existing vista installation but I don't want to use the grub bootloader, i just want to use vista's because when i decide to take ubuntu off the computer the grub boot loader will not go away.

Are both operating systems installed on separate physical hard drives?

You can get rid of the grub bootloader by inserting your xp disc and going to the recovery console and running the commands "fixboot" and "fixmbr".
