Most stores still hold them behind the counters incase they're CC system goes down and they have to process manually, but in a lot of situations i've seen the companies just say, "No card payments" sooner than go through the rigmarole of using those bad boys

It's called an Credit Card Imprinter.

Was search google and for some reason It just hit me "Imprinter!" ... No lie.

Those machines don't record the CVC on the back though so if you got a copy of the carbon paper print out you couldn't use them online or whatever
