What is the difference between the Core duo chip in the apple and the new core duo chip?

there is a difference.

notice the ones in the mac are core duo, and the new ones are core 2 duo. the new ones have better performance and a different core. ooh, and better power saving.

Eh? The Core Duo that Apple uses is the same Core Duo that laptops use. If you're referring to the Core 2 Duo, there's a bigger difference in performance.
