Default Computer Randomly Plays Classical Music?

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...1186&x=11&y=11

Quote:
SUMMARY
During normal operation or in Safe mode, your computer may play "Fur Elise" or "It's a Small, Small World" seemingly at random. This is an indication sent to the PC speaker from the computer's BIOS that the CPU fan is failing or has failed, or that the power supply voltages have drifted out of tolerance. This is a design feature of a detection circuit and system BIOSes developed by Award/Unicore from 1997 on.

Haha, I wonder who came up with that?

Wow, that seems like a really ineffective way of trying to convey an urgent sense of danger.

what will they think of next ? i do like the idea at least the idea lets you know when to take action ..instead of the computer locking up.

maybe in the not so distant future they will use a software program that will tell you when a computer part is about to fail, so you will have time to order the part before the computer renders itself broken.

Why can't the computer just pop up a message? "The CPU fan is failing."

Haha, Classical music is meant to be relaxing...

"OMG, Classical music, NOOO!!!! My computers failing me!!!"

I just hope that new fanless cooling comes into play soon. You may have heard of it, but its the idea of a fanless design, that is actually more efficent than a fan, without any moving parts.
I'll try and find a story on it.

EDIT:

Here it is:

Hmm...seems it produces Ozone gases though...
