Default A+ Certification

I plan on taking that this summer. Is a book alone good enough?

It depends on how you learn, really.

Book recommendation: A+ for Dummies. Not the best book for A+ but one of my favorites. http://www.amazon.com/Certification-.../dp/0764541870

Be sure you take a lot of practice quizzes along the way to help.

Yeah, A+ for dummies is a good book. I've been reading that recently.

If you have some in-field experience then just a book should be good. I found practice quizzes to be the best help for me. Most that I have seen have the answer key in back as well as why the correct answer is correct.

The best book for A+ IMO is mike myers AIO http://www.amazon.co.uk/CompTIA-Prac...ref=pd_sim_b_3
It slaughters all the others, if you want exam prep software then search for something like transcender, thats all you should need.

Yes, my Mike Myers book was good enough. If you know what you are doing with computers, the test is pretty damned easy.
