They did back in the day remember, it was called hotmail - but switching a few million @hotmail.com and suchlike addresses to other domains isn't as simple as renaming a search engine!

EDIT: Simple as in I'm not sure people would be too happy about a sudden change of address!

They could easily have all mail sent to xxx@hotmail.com forwarded to xxx@bing.com.

Sorta like you could e-mail xxx@googlemail.com or xxx@gmail.com, it's the same thing.

I only used bing once, and the layout and the graphic seemed terrible so I guess google for me too.

my queries for the two search engines were based around parsing XML files and getting data from them, the top results were not even nearly similar,

and google pulled 37mil results, bing managed 3mil...
but that's OK, it's not like I'm going to look at them all anyway.

the next search both gave the top results as the same page.
