Read the description again. They're using hardware that prolongs the life of the battery.

Yeah I like it but looks aren't everything....I don't think my wallet would be happy being that slim for something i can with the same specs for a lot cheaper...

People need to stop arguing about specifications. It's much more than that. While I don't agree with how Apple designed this notebook, an eight hour battery life is impressive for a 17 inch notebook regardless.

Exactly, I want to be able to order a new battery if it goes bad and have it here in a few days instead of a couple weeks, which is what it would take to send the laptop back, wait for them to fix it, then send it back to you.

To be fair, Apple has a few stores situated around the United States should you need fast service. That's one advantage Apple has over HP or Dell.
