I need help with some physics and I'm either blanking on basic algebra or completely missed this physics concept. So i'm hoping im making a stupid mistake in my algebra:

(4.275*10^-5)/((0+X)^2) = (3.195*10^-5)/((.185-x)^2)

Solve for X and lemme know whatcha get.

If you have a graphing calculator this is real easy man. In Y1, put (4.275*10^-5)/(0+X)^2)-(3.195*10^-5)/(.185-x)^2)

in Y2, put 0

Then press Zoom->0: Fit

After it graphs go to 2nd->Trace-> 5: Intersect.

When it prompts for first curve, press enter. Second curve, press enter. Then when it asks to Guess move the cursor over to where it looks like the line intersects and press enter. Then it will give you the value of X.

I got 1.365, but I might be wrong.

lol whats that say? Haven't had a physic/math class in 2-3 years.

:eek: This is like a foreign language to me.

Mayor seriously, do what I suggested... it got me through all of high school, including calc lol.

or in your graphing calc (if ti-83) go to Math:solver then 0 = (4.275*10^-5)/((0+X)^2) - (3.195*10^-5)/((.185-x)^2): alpha enter

i got 9.99991

but it would help if i saw the problem....i'm a math physics major
