So, what would be better now? 8800gt or 9600gt? Even the evga SSC 9600gt is cheaper then the normal 8800gt

Well,It Pwn's the 8600GTS (When mine is overclocked it petty much at similar speeds) but the 8800GT Pwns the 9600GT.

Yeah, in terms of speed, it looks to be around 2x faster than the 8600GT.

I just got an e-mail from Micro Direct now, stating they had just got them in

It doesn't support Direct X 10.1 though, so what does this card have that the 8600-8800 doesn't have?... Nothing it looks like

It's the best price/performance ratio. Great midrange card. If the 8800GT wasn't still marked up by pretty much all retailers then it would be a good deal, but it's still going for way too much.
