Well, Thats one!!! Glad we are not 'all' Alone here :lol: On another note, I lost another train forum site today!!! Thats 2... It just wouldn't let me log in last night and today there is something about go daddy the station is parked for free. NOTICE: This domain name expired on 9/25/2019 and is pending renewal or deletion.

Um only in America. My pet hate is an (h)istoric occasion.

It's a herb and a historic occasion because "a" is used with a constanent and "an" with a vowel unless the constanent is silent as "an Honour."

Historic can be pronounced istoric too? Interesting!


I'm aware of the use of "a" and "an" and that they are used according to the initial sound of the next word, not the initial letter, but didn't know (if I understand correctly) they can be used at will to control the next word; e.g. use "an" then say istoric after it.


Of course people can still use whatever they want. An dog, a hour, the man do... etc., as long as they are not used in a graduation thesis ;)

Some people even appreviate "I" + the lexical "have" as "I've."

Personally I never heard it as istoric. New to me.


Note: my English is mostly formal American English.
