Suggestions
The section where the members post about having issues with the forum IMHO should not be the first thing a guest sees. That has a tendencey to make them go elsewhere.
I'd suggest putting it back where it was.

Yes - but as many many members are having account issues after the 'unfortunate incident' it seemed prudent for a time.

Another one is when some one with an odd user name signs up to check the name and IP against StopForumSpam's database. If you don't get a hit on the name as spammers will change them from time to time, you can run the IP. If you get a hit there you could do a pre-emptive strike and take care of them before they have a chance to post their garbage.

I actually used to use SFS to prevent spam on every new member.
