Login Troubles

So last night I tried logging into CF and it refused to let me login, I've never had troubles before as I've told Chrome to remember my login details and then I receieved an email to say someone was trying to login with my account from another IP. So left it until this morning and was able to successfully login after resetting my password. Anyone else had these problems?

Not yet, but with the amount of "Ghosters" we have, this may be a problem soon.

Hmm, I never had any problems logging into CF before. Bk you can go to this site and put into the search box the I.P address to find out who was trying to get into your account.

I haven't used that web site in years, so things there may have changed.

Well just checked it and the IP belongs to Digital Ocean which is a cloud hosting company https://www.digitalocean.com/. I've used their website a few times to look at guides, I wonder if they've been able to track me to here..

With enough dedication, yes. But in this case, its not likely. I have tracked people who harm others to their home (Or internet cafe in some cases) but I usually use that information as a launching point to find out where they go, and try to determine if they will be a contuned threat in the future (the answer is usually yes... sadly).

These people would have to activly be hunting you to have done this, and a brute force on your password does not seem like the type of thing that someone of that caliber would try.

That just seems really strange that someone from that web site would even attempt something like that. Well at least you know who the IP belongs to now.

Probably a hacker using a zombie computer.

Well, a full trace of the IP above leads to misc1.socialknowledge.com, after routing through Digital Ocean.
When entered into a browser, it redirects to http://www.talkski.com/ski-forum/.
That is hosted on GoDaddy, and lists here: https://who.godaddy.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=talkski.com&prog_id=GoDaddy

That seems to go full circle.

Yeh and I just checked me email and it is the same people too (same ip that is 192.241.252.189)
