Whether you need computer troubleshooting, hardware, software, custom computer builds, or tech support, we have it.

Why do we kick spammers out of our respective forums and you let things like this slide here?
Advertising is revenue the forum brings in to offset the costs of hosting, upgrades, ect. When you allow free advertising, you allow revenue to slip through your fingers. Perhaps charge $10.00 dollars a month for ads like that. Set up a paypal account. You don't pay, you don't play. You get 10 people paying $10.00 a month and that offsets a good chunk of your hosting bills.
Not trying to start any s**t, just courious.

I like what your saying but a monthly subscription is to much, a one off payment would be more appealing I think. I guess its up to David to decide if he wants to try and claw some fees back to cover costs.

If there would be a cost involved, then here should definatley be more to offer than just plain text, and since that isn't going to happen then I don't think its a good idea.

Other forums I go to have the same idea, they charge members a certain price per month if they are using the forum to advertise. It's a sharper price though, 50$ a month. Works out nicely with 8 people paying that per month.

Spammers dont contribute to the forums and help people (which Waldorf does), plus they're almost always advertising some sort of porn, we have a section for advertising thats cost free, so i dont see anything wrong with using sig's. Its not like its abusive or anything.

organising something like this would probably cost more of Davids time than it'd be worth in the long run.

it'd need either completly manual administration causing a massive headache, (like admin change your sig after your advertising sub has expired, then you change it back as soon as they log out) or the inability for anyone other than the paying members to have sigs.

Personally I don't see much wrong with this inoffesive advertising which doesn't harm the forum...
by harm I mean advertise 'bad' sites or competing forums...

final decision is Davids of course.

Spammers don't help or contribute to the forum but I like to think we are a little relaxed when it comes to sigs. We don't allow fancy graphics, hyperlinks, colors or vb code but I think the odd link in someones signature is fine. After all, they are helping the forum out by posting etc. As long as its not a referal link/pron site etc then its fine

Take a look at your sig:
