300 second wait time for PMs?

A 5 minute wait time to send a PM is quite a bit long. We get 30 seconds of downtime between post but why so much for PMs? Just curious...

because mods or admins cant moderate our pm's its to prevent spaming

You are correct, it's in place to keep spammer's at bay.

I could see maybe 2 and a half minutes, but 5 minutes is just too long.

agreed with Arrizx. Though I rarely get/send pm's, if I have to wait to send one it feels kinda stupid. I understand that there has to be some limit to stop people from spamming by pm, but 5 mins is just way too long.
