Problems connecting xp machine to file server.

Ok so i have my file server up and running...and it works great. Well that is on my vista machine. I have the drives from the server mapped on my vista rig, and i can connect to them without any problems...same with remote desktop.

Now when i go to my laptop, running xp professional...and i try to map a drive on the server it fails, same with remote desktop connection. I have put the computer on the same workgroup...but still nothing.

The server is running "Windows Server 2008" btw. Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have SP2 or SP3?

Funny to say, but i only have SP1 installed on it haha....so tuesday i will download and install SP3 and that should solve my problem...i hope. I'll let you's all know later in the afternoon on tuesday.

So i assume thats my problem right Nevermind? well i'll let you know how it goes...once i get SP3 installed on it.

You've confirmed successful connectivity to server via pinging physical ip address of server from your laptop?
