Default New to apachee no public_html

I followed a tutorial on setting up a webserver but the problem I have is there is no public_html folder for users I create. If I click on /home/username the folder is empty. Please help!

I'm not trying to be insensitive to your efforts, but have you taken a peek at something called XAMPP? It does all the setup for you, and includes things like PHP and SQL in addition to Apache.

If you'd prefer to just run with the web server you're using now, is it IIS or Apache or something else?
