Minecraft Server

...Ehem.... I know everyone doesn't like minecraft but I happen to be trying to make a server for my son.


I understand he Can run it through Hamachi but he doesn't want to do that anymore. Can Anyone help us?

I understand I need to Open the port 25565 (Minecraft suggested port)
However, once I have done this...... I use Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router
and it claims that it is not open.

He cannot connect in game, using the public Ip, from IPchicken or with the extension:25565. he can connect through entering "localhost"

I have a Netgear Router DG834DT you can find an emulator here: NETGEAR Router
or by all means find one (better) yourself

I have tried doing it through "services", "Firewall Rules", "LAN Ip Setup" But It won't work no matter what I try.

However I successfully setup a Ventrilo Server, using port forwarding, so I know it can be done.

I have struggled with this for a while but can't seem to get it to work, can anyone help me out? If anyone has any info or experience with setting up a server for any game, preferably Minecraft I would be greatful! I need to impress my son! haha
