I support an IBM x225 server with the hot swap backplane. When
you go into the embedded LSI setup utility from the BIOS it shows the installed disk drives at scsi id's 0-5 and the id of the Hot swap backplane at 8. I have a backup server and the disks show up as id 10-15 and the id of the backplane is 9. Does anyone know how this is set? I am doing a raid build/setup of some drives on my system that I want to bring to my customer and I would like my hardware to see the same id's. |

Usually the controller has it hard set in the firmware, or, depending on the device and when it was made, on the device itself. Lately, with the advent of software firmware update mechanisms, you can change these things on the startup prompt (i.e. Press CTRL+F to enter setup utility, etc) and you can adjust/monitor them from there.
