Default FTP Server

Hey everyone...

I recently tried to setup a ftp server online and i keep on geting rejected. I tryed both Bulletproof FTP Server and the windows XP built in FTP Server settings. In both cases i tryed using my local IP (192.168.--.--) and my external (209.74.--.--) and no sucess. I also went to www.no-ip.com and made a free account and registered domain names for both ip's. In my router setup page I added FTP sever port 21 in virtual servers under UDP and TCP settings. I do not know where to turn now. Please help.

is the FTP server avilable on the machine you are hosting it on?

browsing to 127.0.0.1?

try that ftp://127.0.0.1
If thatdoesn't work it's a problem with the installation of your FTP server, not the router.

Every local computer can connect to it, and pinging home works too. I have the router setup to allow Virtual Servers Port 21 UDP and TCP open. Any ideas? If noone can figure this out i'll just make a server on my linux box
