Domain accounts aren't showing up in user accounts list on local PC

In my home, I have a single Windows Server 2012 R2 machine running as an Active Directory server and a domain controller. In Active Directory, I created a new user named Brian. I joined my Windows 7 Pro laptop to the domain bernhard71793.local. Then I logged in (on my laptop) with the newly-created domain user account Brian, waited to it to prepare my desktop, and got in just fine.

The REAL problem I'm having is when I go to Manage User Accounts to change it to an administrator account, it doesn't show up on the user list. Also, I noticed that when I navigate to the profile folder, it just says Brian like it's a local account and not BERNHARD71793.Brian as it should. It's never done this to me in the past when I set this up. I also tried creating other users in AD and logging into different domain-joined PCs on the network with those accounts. Same exact problem with that.

Why is this happening??? How do I fix this?
