I am using Trucrypt and it's asking me to move my mouse to create an encryption key. What is an encryption key and what does it have do with the data. Please help. Thanks

Hi,
I would recommend that you have a look at the Truecrypt docs. There is a lot of good information in this. It should help you figure some stuff out.

It wants you to move your mouse so it can generate random numbers and stuff which it uses to generate an encryption key.
What does encrypting data do? It makes the data unreadable to anyone who doesn't have the encryption key. Some servers use encryption, such as when you are making a transaction online. But it is different in server encryption as two keys need to be used, a public one and a private one.
