proxy settings & fake IP programs

I've been trying to use some of those programs that give you a fake IP and I can't get any of them to work. I've tried like 6 or 7 different programs and none of them work with either IE, firefox or chrome, so I'm thinking maybe it's something in my computer settings that's preventing them from working. anyone have any ideas?

Without knowing some simple things like what OS you are using, and what programs you have tried it is really hard to help you.
