I am considering using a separate computer for financial matters and sites only for security reasons. It is recommended that desktops be used due to the fear of the laptop being stolen easier. Is it possible to use encryption, passwords etc to make a stolen laptop useless to a thief? How to go about this?

Honestly, I'm not familiar with bitlocker. I was just trying to get the idea across. Thanks for suggesting good software BrokenAtari.
