Emailing someone your password

I saw in my dh's email, that he sent someone his email address and password. Why would he do this? Please give me all possible reasons. Thanks.

He is allowing someone else access to his email. Whomever has that can read, delete and generate emails in his name.

If it is a business account, then it may be an assistant who would have to do so on his behalf when he is not at the office (on vacation, say).
