Would this be a good career choice? I am interested in programming and most anything involving computers. I just don't know which field of computers to specialize in and what a computer security specialist's job would entail.

If you are good in programming, why not to try? You can go there you are interesting, otherwise you'll never be succeed

Are you good at maths? Cryptography requires lots of it, specifically stuff to do with primes. Of course, you can always learn - but if you hate maths and never want to really touch it then it's definitely not the field for you!

I would say that computer security is an up and coming field. In today's world, EVERYTHING is being transformed into electronic format. Computer security will be extremely important.
