Agreed, lots of websites still don't support the modern browsers. IE 10+ 11 are plagued with compatibility issues. IE9 is still not terrible.

If you have Windows 7 then you should be able to complete your browser upgrade through Windows Update.

Windows 7 does not come with Internet Explorer 7, it comes stock with Internet Explorer 8....

I would not clone the HDD to the SSD, it is better to do a clean install of the system, I understand that you have the recovery partition but long term it may be better to do a clean installation....

Yep, msconfig is a universal windows command for the system configuration, you may need to type c:\windows\system32\msconfig.exe into run or search box.

These are all\were malicious DLL's, go to Start, Run/Search, msconfig, then go to the startup tab and then uncheck the certain things that are giving you issues. You will see the DLL's listed there.
