Default Where to Start?

I'm trying to enter the world of Game Programming, but i have no idea where to start. I hear all this stuff about C++ and Compilers. So if one of you kind people could give me some advice on where to start an explain some of the basics to me that would be great. I also just started the 3D modelling, i got Rhino3D(Awesome program) I've already started my first map. So yea, any help on begining programming would be awesome.

Starting small is a good idea. Diving into C++ will probably be more than frustrating. Start with the free stuff. Even JavaScript can do quite a bit, and you can see it work in your browser (without buying a HUGE imposing IDE). There are also some good internet tutorials around building JavaScript games. Not to mention that JavaScript skills have real world applications these days. BASIC is fun and easy, but it isn't really used in the real world much these days.
