Visual Studio.Net

Yes, it costs lots

You might be able to get a student copy for a little bit cheaper though.

-I got my copy for free from uni using the MSDNAA license agreement.

at the risk of this being edited by a mod I'd suggest searching on Kazaa.
IRCSpy found 35 coppies for visual studio, - thats if you have IRC installed (it's got at free version I think) and you know how to use the dcc file getting bit. (it's not hard and there are instructions on ircspy and in Mirc also you can get help on most filesharing rooms.)

of course you shouldn't shout too loudly about your new *free* copy. Companies are a little funny about theft. and it seems MS are not scared to go after minnors (remember Mike Rowe? remember the P2P Apple/Pepsi/RIAA kids?).

Well I would first check out Microsofts new Visual Studio Express 2005 before downloading it by some other means.
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/

There you can download all of microsofts studios products.

BTW, this is the first forums I've seen where someone didn't get their head ripped off for just mentioning getting products by 'other means'

i know that some colleges and univeristies sell visual basic really cheap, like 90% off the org. price. u can try there if u aren't successfull anywhere else.

Again, I have been pointing a lot of people to it recently but you can order, for £3, the DVD of the Beta 1 version of Visual Studio 2005 at MSDN Labs.

Its very stable, very good, and has more than Visual Studio .NET.
