Default programmer analyst

ok guys i hope i can get a lot of feed back and good suggestions from this community.
I am new to the forums as of yesterday. I decided to take my career in a different direction as i am a manufacturing engineer technician. I want to change a career and go into programming, but also have the ability to move up to menagerial positions and so on. I enjoy computer programming i am currently learning c++. I have also done a lot of programming in highschool i took computer engineering thoughout my highschool years. So i know i would like that. Would Programmer analyst be a good choice. What is a typical day of a programmer analyst?

Typically the different duties come with different employers. I suggest doing an internship or maybe a job shadowing session with a company you'd like to work with to get an idea of what you'd like to do.
