Default Pascal?

Im going to school for a degree in Computers. When i was going through the list of required classes. I have to take a Class thats programming with PASCAL? Never heard of it. Whats it used for?

its a beginners learning language , pretty easy from my experiences but its a good place to start especially if you have never done any programming before

Whats a good (free )compiler for PASCAL? i want to learn this. Will make the college class easier.

Looks like an easy syntax so would be a good beginner language
