file properties VB.net

I was wondering if there is a way in Visual Basic .net to return and edit the properties of a file. What I mean by 'properties' is the data you edit when right clicking on the file and selecting 'properties' at the bottom of the context menu that comes up. This includes (for music files) things such as track number, title, artist, year, genre, etc...

Here's why I want to do it. I am sick of this situation: I burn songs from a CD to my computer to .wma files. Then I convert them with iTunes to .m4a to be played on my iPod. However, no matter how many times I alter the properties of the .wma file, they don't show up on my iPod, so I have to properly name them AGAIN with the converted counterpart .m4a files through iTunes. This makes simply putting songs from your CDs to your iPod and having them named correctly a long and ridiculously unnecessary process, especially considering that iTunes is very slow.

thanks for your input/consideration
