CSM and Cpanel???

Hi, I have been learning to program websites and all seems to be going well (touch wood) But I am very unsure about how I build a website for my friend and then let him have total control over it (apart from the important programming of course) I used to have a website that you literally went online and then logged into it, is this the best way to go and if so how do I input it? Please don't mock me if I come across as stupid I'm still very much a newbie
