Default Batch problems

Ok. I'm totaly noob at programing and I heard that batch is the place to start. So I was looking around and this site said I needed some program to do this kind of programing. So I got it but I get this same alert that I get everytime I try to use dos programs:

What is it and how can I make it go away??? (any batch tips would be appreciated too)

what version of windows are you using?

I'd suggest trying to use one of the compatibility modes for running older dos programs emulating a DOS environment.

if yuo right click on the icon you are using to launch the application and select properties

you should see a tab labled compatibility, here you can set the version that windows emulates to run this program,
you'll most likely need to choose windows 95 or windows 98, this makes the system act as if it were an earlier version of windows (at least to the program) giving it the available APIs it needs to run.
