i7 Sony vs. Macbook Pro

If you only had these two options to choose from, consider all pros and cons for both models, including the price, and pick ONE. Although suggestions for alternative models are welcome, i'd appreciate that you'd still pick one of the two mentioned above.

I'm with the Sony, bigger screen and hard drive, comes with BluRay, HDMI. it really depends on what you want to do with it.

A no brainer.

Do you plan on taking the laptop with you places? If you do, skip the 16.4" Sony. I have an older model the same size and it sucks taking the thing anywhere. The Macbook Pro also has an IPS panel monitor. When calibrated, they are better at displaying correct colors and have wider viewing angles.

yesss, the IPS panel, there's definitely that.

if only the Mac came with Blu-Ray and HDMI, i'd be happy ...

...i say HDMI since it's cheaper than the Mac alternative.
