Overclocking Question - Multipliers

I'm just now getting into overclocking my cpu, after I realized it was bottle necking my gpu.

So my cpu defaults at 2.8, but I read I can go to 3.3 and even 4.1 if I increase my voltage a tad and still remain stable.

So I was watching my temps closely and running prime95. I got my bus speed up to 229 with a x14 multiplier (very slowly). As soon as I got up to 230, my pc shut off. Temp was at 57-58c After turning it back on, i found that my bus speed was set to 201 and my multiplier to 16.5 and my temp while running prime95 is only is much lower at 48c, yet my core speed is 3.3 ghz.

My question is, why? All threads I've looked at, kept the multiplier at default, and just increased the bus speed.

I have an asrock motherboard and i'm OCing with the software they gave me called "OC Tuner".

My cpu is an AMD Phenom II x6 1055T Processor 2.8 Ghz

I have another question aswell. If I disabled two of my cores, would I be able to OC even more? or not? What about 3 cores?
