im getting i7 950 in two days or so and if the ht is off will the temps drop? if so i will leave it of because all i am using it for is gaming.
how do i turn it off?? bios?? i have ga-x58a-ud3r mobo

you can easy turn it off in the bios.
yes it will incress the tempature to have it on. i have it on. i pay for a core i7, and so i will also have the HT that i did pay for. |

Hyperthreading would give you a nice boost if left on. If you have a decent cooler, the temps wont go up more than 1-2C.

ok so now i have it and the ide temps are around 45-55?? celcius. any good??
and under load(prime95) about 76-85 degrees celcius. are these temps normal? i know i7s ant cool runers but should i buy aftermarket cooler?? i know a few good ones. |

will the stuck cooler is not good.
as soon you are starting to overclock you can see why. my core i7 920 is at 45 as idel temp. and your should be hotter then mine. so i think i makes good sense. dont know about the load temp. go tjek some benchmarks. you can campair your temps with the testers temps. |

now im having a problem with the ram i cant get it to 1600mhz.
i will also need a new hdd (1-1tb)(1-ssd(100gb ish) this one is 6 years old! i need good recomendations. also i will need a new cd drive sugestions? mine wont open any games eg crisis and some other games wont read(just a ticking noise) |
