How to overclock the first core in an intel core 2 duo e8400 (pre-built dell)

I go to bios and only get access to the second core(which i got up to 3.55GHz from 3.0) also - does overclocking the second core help much? im under the impression that the extra work the first core can't do goes to the second.

Shouldnt OEM / prebuilt Dell motherboards have locked bios?
Try removing the cmos battery, sometimes it works to unlock the bios.
