3pin fan

Does anyone know any tricks to quite down a 3 pin fan? This thing spins at 3k and moves a ton of air. I wanted to quite it down some with out buying a fancontroller im saving for a decent one

that's gonna be difficult without a fan controller.
Just buy a cheap one on Ebay

This is a single port fan controller.
It's one of the few that you actually have inside the case. SO it's out of view and it's very cheep.

If you want a longer term solution, but buffered/silenced fans with built-in controllers.

I have three in my PC, all set to 'Medium' (~1900rpm) - bought them for a few quid each off ebay, no problems at all and it's nice and quiet. It's tidier too, since the little control boxes are mounted on a ~2" wire directly to the fan, just tuck it into the case rim. Those big black boxes tend to be a tad messy, but im OCD about that. Even the transformer for my old CCFLs used to wind me up.
