Wireless Internet Access Issues

Hi there. I have a Toshiba Satellite A70 that I use to connect to a wireless network at home. It works great.

However, when I am on a business trip, I am not able to connect to any wireless internet services.

My computer detects and connects to any open wireless networks but once I try connecting to the internet, I get an error page in explorer.

I read the following thread in this forum, but there was no ultimate solution.

Ox0161 said to check to make sure that the router was assigning an IP address to the computer but didn't elaborate. What happens if it is / is not assigning the IP?

I do have a firewall running. But there are still problems if I shut it off.

Any tips?

Thanks

yea once it connects double click the wireless icon in the taskbar. it will say the signal strength, blah blah... click support. it should all look fine in there. if not it will have an error, meaning it hasnt assigned an ip address for some reason, although if this is usually the case the connection will say "limited or no connectivity)
edit: does it happen on any connection you use elsewhere?

I have no problems when I connect via Ethernet cable wherever I can find a port, only when I go wireless away from home.

I'll check for an error message and post what I find.

TKS.
