i have had belkin wireless router for a few years without much of a problem running xbox, ps3, iphone, laptops and a wired connection. i recently bought a new laptop running windows 7 (first time in house idk if that matters) and it would not connect to internet. it recognizes the router is there and rthat therfe is a 4 bar connection but when i try to connect it just says windows connot connect. thought was computer then tried iphone, nothing. computer, nothing. cycled router, modem, router again modem, modem and router. hours spent rewiring and nothing. wired from modem works fine, wired through router, works fine. borrowed another wirless belkin router figuring it had to be the router. same result in every aspect. friend came over pc tech in our it dept., tried all same did a strange power cycle to modem, unpluged and plugged repeatedly 3-4 times and plugged back in. bam theres a wifi signal my phone and laptop connect! he is no longer out of the driveway and its all back down again!
must be the modem then? i return modem to cable company and bring home new one register online works great hook up router bam nothing. borrow another wireless router netgear this time maybe belkin issue i think nothing works fine wired through router but no wifi on any device shows is there a 4 bar signal but no connection. called cable company again they just say they cant do anything about someone elses router and just say they read my router perfectly so its not them! i have recently noticed that my new router has a "link" light on the front of it that when hooked to router will flash and the "internet" light on the router flashes in exactly same sequence? i am at wits end with this i cant think of anything i might have over looked. help me obi wan your my only hope!

Right click 'My computer' Click 'Manage' Click 'Device manager'...look for network adapters and wireless and tell me what they are and do they have a yellow exclamation mark next to them.
As frustrating as these problems can be alot of times it's drivers for communications on the system and the router to connect to one another. |
