Default Using phone as a wireless hotspot in airports

After discussing this at work today, and doing a quick search, I've come up empty. So I pose this scenario to you:

Several times I've flown in the past and have used my phone as a mobile hotspot while in the airport to connect my laptop to the interwebs. Each time, I would connect, load a few web pages, and would disconnect for no reason. Then connecting back to my phone, no worky. Outside of the airport, the Wifi Tether works great. Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking some kind of signal jamming within the airports, but am curious who else sees this.

Not jamming your signal but there is a lot of RF flying around. Interferance is common.
