Temporary extension from wall outlet

Ok so first of all you need to check the NBN website to see what technology your home will be serviced with, just head to the NBNCo website and at the top just enter your address and click check home. It will then tell you what technology you'll be serviced with and when it will be ready for service.

If you home is ready for service then you get choose an ISP or contact your current ISP to move across to the NBN.

Should look like this

If you're wanting to extend the cable from the wall to the modem, like the others have said, you can get a coaxial cable (cable tv cable) and the male-to-male connectors for pretty cheap. iirc, 30m is less than $25usd where i live.

Your other option would be to leave the modem where it is and just run a longer ethernet cable through the wall. I suppose it really depends on which cabling is cheaper where you live. Also, i've found ethernet cables are easier to tuck under baseboards, especially when they're the flat ones.
