sharing internet through a phone cord

i have a laptop running win 7

and a crappy old desktop running win98..

idk if it's possible, but can i share an internet connection with it with a phone cord??.. not a phone line... a cord..

i know how to do this with ethernet, but not with a phone cord



my main goal is to get maxivista running as a host one win98 and have a virtual machine on my laptop with the client on it, have the win98 machine set to duplicate moniters.. so i can access the win98 through my laptop (may not be the best method.. but i'd work)

As far as I know, no. I once tried to figure out how to do this back in the day.

You can try using a null modem cable.

Way to long of a difference. They just aint compatable. Maybe through a emu?
