Ruthless DNS issues, please help! Seemingly No Fix!

Thanks bunches pete, I'll give them a call first thing in the morning. I appreciate the help, I hope it's nothing with my hardware! But it may absolutely be my ancient modem. I'll update this when it's finally all smoothed out for anyone in the future who may need help with this issue!

If you can log in to your router and change the settings, you could also try changing the DNS servers that it's using. Probably it's using your ISP's by default. Tell it to use Google's DNS instead (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). That has resolved issues for me in the past.

Have you got any other devices, such as a phone or tablet that the internet has worked flawlessly on?
If the internet works fine on other devices, uninstall your network drivers and reinstall them.

If you've tried reinstalling your drivers, then:
If you're on wireless, try using a cable to connect to the internet, if you're using a cable, try the wireless functionality.
