Default Port Forwarding

Recently I've tried to do some port forwarding but i don't really understand how its done. I share a wireless router with several people and can't seem to connect to online games on my computer.
I have the subnet address, the router IP and DNS.

The model number for the wireless router is: WGR614v9.

what is my service name?
how do i get my starting and ending port numbers?

Sorry if I sound stupid.
Thanks in advance

Welcome toe CF!!!

Hi,

I would recommend that you take a look at Portforwarding.com. This is a great site, it gives walkthroughs for any router I have ever heard of. This should help you with forwarding.

Just a side note, when you list a model number don't forget to list a brand name too.

Cheers!

Port fowarding is for outside resources to access your computer .. generaly you dont need to do it to just play a game.

depends. if the port that the game uses isnt open, then it wont work. every port obviously cant be open.
