Ping Linux Loopback from LAN

Hello, I have a loopback configured on my Ubuntu box tap0 with the ip address of 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and I can't seem to figure out how to ping it from the rest of my network which is 172.16.1.0/27. (Gateway router IP is 172.16.1.20, sending DHCP to the first subnet there)

There has to be a static route (default route) I need to add but it has me confused.

Shouldn't the default route be something like

ip route 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.224 192.168.1.1

Wouldn't it be easier to use eigrp or some other routing protocol then to static route?
