Networking between 2 XP computers with a crossover cable

Okay, my problem is everytime I try to run the network connection setup, I make a connection, and then when I try to actually CONNECT to the other computer, it gives me an error message of 777. Something about needing to contact the computer admin....I am the computer admin, so I really don't know why it'd do that. Excuse me if I sound completely computer illiterate, but I just don't know a thing about networking, so if anyone could help me out, that'd be great.

Once again, I'm using two XP systems and connecting through a crossover cable.

Can you give a little more details? What choices did you make in the network connection wizard? What is the exact error that is displayed?
